Just discovered my diff is not LSD?
« on: August 01, 2008, 12:58:23 PM »
Well when i tried to get her up our massively steep driveway, and rolled back when she stalled i got my back left tyre stuck in the air, and there was no moving her.....whats the best diff, and can these be just put in by a local mechanic without too many mods, currently running a manual 3, 202 red. Think its all original cause it has beddy stud pattern.

yeh kirk you have an original bedford diff.. should be ok for city driving.. no good for getting up to 100 thou.. and no lsd..

consider yourself lucky if you get a hwy diff for reasonable price, if you get an lsd then your on a full roll!!

i managed to get my hands on a 9inch lsd converted for bedford for $700 but you could quite easily pay that much for a small hwy non lsd diff..

its where someone cuts the centre out of your diff and modifys a different centre with a better ratio into your diff.. usually very costly because of the machining involved..

I got that sydney diff for $51  It still has beddy stud pattern
got a mate to pick it up and getting it freighted home soon. all up less than $200
not bad as matey I got it off said
New centre  $900
Cut n shut $1200
9 inch$1500   Don't quote me on these prices just what matey said.
He only got rid of it because v8 blew put 6 back in and 2.73 was to low to start up hill with 5 speed(intended for v8) and fully loaded trailer
BTW  apparently he has 3 beddys one being and I quote "the rolls royce of beddys"
If you like it do it, If you like it a lot do it a lot!
