Locks they cant pick...
« on: August 01, 2008, 12:47:30 PM »
Hiya, well i want my van to be as secure as possible, and i recently saw a panel van with circular keys, and someone last night had locks with a star key, where can i find these?, how much? and would they fit in the bedford space where the locks go?

Think like a burglar Kirk.
Smash a window for access , break the steering wheel to release the  steering wheel club thingy.
smash the steering column cover and short out the ign switch   ..........15 seconds?
Most people will pretend they never saw it, and walk past.
Now.....How to hinder and stop him/her/them from this point..........alarm, steering lock,  immobiliser, other cunning devices....??

just put a battery isolation switch in it or as danno will tell you do a craig and leave your blue healer in it they are usually smart enough to wait till the thief is inside then they go bullistic!!     then again who would be stupid enough to break into my bedford when it was parked next to 12 others.....what an idiot ,you should have seen him bolt out when the door was opened my dog bolted after him for a bit more then about 15 other beddy owners were seen chasing him across an oval.LOL
ur a bedford owner ....adapt overcome work it out

can you actually do that strez?? i have dreamed of doing that forever!!! now i think about it its not dificult at all.. run an inverter.. work out how long battery life youd have hehe thats awsome!!!

nice story craig!!

if your beddy is that nice the crook will steal it!!!!! try deterents.. but i like just doing simple stuff hehe like leaving the linkages sloppy on the 4 speed.. so they get into first then when go to change its stuck in first.. they try to get nto second but all they get is grinding!! then they blow the motor and leave it in the middle of the road..

Kirk dont waste your money on the solex locks as Jeff said they just smash a window etc. Best of not leaving anything of value in sight. There is no way of securing any vehicle totally. I used to do breakdowns and there wasn't a car that couldn't be beaten.

There are ways to make it harder. Install shielding plates around the inner lock mechanisms and rods to make it harder to use "Slim Jims" and the like. Also use tapered door buttons not the great looking skulls as it makes it harder to get plastic tape onto them.

Alarms with flashing dash lights and steering locks are worthwhile as a deterrent but dont count on them.
