nah as they target 70's cars, old holdens like vk hq etc and older vans like beddies/transits, good old aussie models that can entered into easily and hot wired real quick, and driven straight to the crushers ..... ah no questions asked at the crushers cause once its in the crusher who cares?  >:(

actually when yu think about it, 5 cars at 5 different crushers will get you a $1000, not a bad days work for bunch of likely lads, cars gone and no evidence left, enough cash to buy an Xbox and a couple of slabs the trend is with teenagers at the mo (the prof guys prefer the big dollar cut and shunt jobs and move cars interstate) this trend requires a team effort and can be achieved locally by changing the driver of the stolen vehicle to the crushers and no questions asked  >:(  Lock that beddie boys!!!

on second thoughts go further than locking you need to be able to disable the van, the best deterent is to make it as hard as you possibly can to steal your pride and joy, I have seen a product that is by far the best anti theft device it locks the brake pedal to the steering wheel, if I remember I will bring a sample to the Vic get together I think costs about $30 but don't hold me to that cause its only available privately from an ex Vic copper, I watched some bad boys give it a go and they failed and gave up, these same bad boys removed a steering lock in 30 seconds. We've all locked our keys in the beddie and used the clothes hanger to open the door yeah? unless you have an improved door locking system it is real easy to open a beddie, whip the casing off the steering column and hello mr ignition wires ! quick cross wiring and bye bye my beddie  :'( oh I attended a youth program that assists car stealing bad boys and was there when they were asked to prove their skills and they couldn't remove the brake steering wheel lock. Most cars are stolen during the day from shopping centres cause its mum who usually drives and we all know the females like to linger in shopping centres, train stations is another place and oh if you have a gps, take it with you and hide the cradle, better still remove the suction marks from the windscreen cause that is a dead give away that there is a gps in the van, pop rivet those number paltes on too boys cause theft of gps and number plates have risen 319% in Vic ........  ;)

sorry one more thing, the anti theft number plate screws? .... don't bother, they are sold at Bunnings and auto stores but guess what ... so too are the screw driver bits to remove them, young blokes carry screwdrivers with the bits attached and steal number plates from train stations and shopping centres, they sell the number plates where ever to those that don't want  to pay for petrol or road tolls and then you get the phone call that you stole some petrol and have racked up a few speeding and parking tickets, how do I know .... cause it happened to me, now I pop rivet the plates on!! (confession time .... only done the beddie and not the missuss car .... orh) ::)

what about a recording that goes off screaming "help someone cant afford to buy a bedford so they are trying to steal mine!!!!"

ROFLMAO,
i got a chain and lock that locks my 4 speed shift in reverse, another that locks my bonnet to the passangers engine mount, a steering wheel clublock, a home made alarm that uses  =a relay, horn, 2 switches , total cost = next to nothing.
i stumbled on the idea when i was bored 1 night, it works great, it just doesent stop till the owner resets it.
i will work out a timer for it 1 day.
i leave my van unlocked everywhere its in view, hanging for a would be theif to open the door, hasnt happened yet but i cant wait, lol. i might rig something up that sprays dishwashing liquid into their eyes for an extra laugh.

prob with that add-on would be sometimes i forget the alarm is on.

that dish washing trick would be great of you wear glasses, you would never have to turn it off, each time you opened the door you  would get a free glasses wash  ::)
