It could be different here in NZ than there, but unless the van has some history it's only worth parts or scrap value.

It's like me selling my custom van, at present because it's not certified (does have rego on hold) it's not worth anything, but road legal and it'll be worth something - how much, no idea.

At the end of the day it's only worth what someone is willing to pay
There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't. What you've got to do is turn around and say "watch me"

I agree with BusyKiwi.
To me if I can drive that "sexy new van" away, it has to be worth more than on the back of a trailer or tow truck.

As for what it's worth.... well, that is what someone is prepared to pay. Same as anything. Scrap is $100 tonne, Nostalgia..... Mega $$$
Workin for the weekend!

Vintage Holden,

I think they are worth a heap more when they are Lic.

West Aussie is different to everywhere else (for now) in that as long as you keep it rego'd  it does not need inspection every year or 2. (unless you do an engine change)

So if i look to buy something regardless of condition it is always worth in the vicinity of +$500 - +$1000 more when it is still in rego as I can get it home and do the urgent things on it and then fix the rest over time.

When I brought my truck it had rusty floors/was bright Yellow rust rid enamel and had not been driven in 3 years but was still rego'd. I put a new battery in it drove it home and them serviced the red motor and the auto with filters and fluids.
Within a month we had it in primer to reduce the chance of attracting unwanted attention from the law, then set about fixing the floor panels.

My truck gets driven about 10 -20 times a year to take my race car to the track and move other cars around and for the total of $700 a year for licensing and third party collision insurance, which i am comfortable on spending to keep it and enjoy it. If we have the expenses they have on the East Coast my guess is it would cost +$1400/year with inspection/Green Slip ins/Lic and then all the little things needed each year as a result of the inspection.

If you are thinking of keeping it the question is for how long?
As after paying 2 years rego and not using it you will have spent the price advantage of keeping it lic.

It's always a tough decision for a Beddy owner!!!
Good luck with it.

Rhett
