« on: February 02, 2009, 06:37:11 PM »
I'm wondering if its worth me trying to sell my engine and gearbox or should I send it to the scrap metal joint?

Well i've got a little 173 in my truck and i reckon its one of the smoothest and quite red motors i've ever had. True, its not the most powerful power plant but it just ticks along. My old man used to have a hg holden with an even smaller 161 and that was just the same. Maybe someone on the oldholden site might be looking for one? If it is in good nick shane , why not try selling it.?
cheers..johnno ;D

Its certainly in good nick and runs real well so when it comes out I might advertise it in a few places. I might even leave it in and advertise it so people can see it running.

Shane I wouldn't expect too much interest in it except for someone looking for an el cheapo eng. I buy running 202, red, blue, black & efi from $50 with trannie or gearbox. Most I'll pay is for a VK efi is $200 with everything. By everything I mean fuel tank, hoses, pipes, loom, computer etc.

they are still worth at least a few dollars... some people prefer them because they have bearings etc as big as a 202
but less power to destroy them, so they are generally not worn out.

then again if anyone buys my van and i'll throw in a free red 202 and a couple of 3 speed boxes for them if they want....
