im not sure what Bas is doing behind the scenes with the cad, but if you got one of the 1:43 scale models could you not digitally scan it with those dots then when you have it saved, then you pick the scale you want to print it in. Thats what they do with full size cars, splatter it with stick on dots then run a scanner over it and bingo an image of the car starts to appear on the screen with every little detail and measurement.

Every journey starts with a beginning ,Took the angle grinder to the green machine this weekend, no turning back now,
The old wheel arches looked like they had been bought at K Mart and stuck on so they had to go, gull wind side door is next , then the re shaping of the front. -After that she should be ready for painting, Bit of air brushing and an album cover on the back -  she should be good to go.

Getting back to the model Bedford thread, as Busy said I have been working on a 3D surface model of a CFL (as that is what mine is) but have not done anything on this since late 2012 as time hasn't been available. Below is where the model is at the moment. Once done, this could be converted into an STL file that can then be 3d printed. I may be able to spend a bit of time on it now but with work and trying to get the van sorted prior to painting it won't happen overnight. If someone wants to take what I have here and progress it further I'm happy to sent them the file. This is done as a surface model in Solidworks so you would need to be able to do advanced surfing using Solidworks.

Anyway I'll see what I can do to progress this further.

Cheers,
Garry.

Awesome Garry, i don't know how to surf, i kept falling off the board, and it's even harder now i am in a chair,  ;) ;) ;) :D ;D when you get it finished ready for printing, i want 2 in 1:18 scale.
I had a look at those opels, and they had every van and bedford van ever made, except for a CF, buga. These guys are elusive, so i hope you can get the cad done and start printing garry, first cab off the rank mate. I have a space front and center in my diecast display already cleared and ready.  ;) :D ;D :o ::)

Correct me if i am wrong, but once you have the initial design locked in, i am guessing it would not be to hard to add an easy roller front to it, or other custom bits, am i right.

Hi George,

Yeah, once you have the base CAD model any modifications etc can added to it to produce whatever you have done to your own van. That's why I'm doing the initial CAD model as a standard van first, rather than modelling my own van, so that it can used by anyone who can drive CAD. It should also be relatively easy to cut the LWB version down to a SWB variant once completed, whenever that may be.

Cheers,
Garry.

Thats awesome Garry, im guessing that it will be a closed plastic model, meaning the doors and bonnet wont open. I cant wait, we can then paint them to match our own vans. Well i am down for the first 2 customer vans. Will you be able to do any of the scales that we want or is your printer restricted to a certain scale.
