Thanks Wendy, a great gallery to help me standardise my doors, I noticed the nylon block is located in only one track, the other tang is maybe a safety item? I will do the block and alignment hanging of course before the lock instal. Love the mirrors! The seats are from a Kia van I read on your posts, is that right? Folding armrests give a feeling of comfort and security as the world rushes by! My next move is to track down some suitable material and start sculpting. I love doing the cheap stuff that progresses the van, while saving for the big ticket items. I'm living in the seventies! Keep on sliding,! Bye bye Beddites!

Yep the seats are from a Kia ..as def yes the arm rest are very neccessary going around corners with the doors open..even thou your seat belt is on they just hold you snuggly in your seat 
there is only one track /runner that the doors slide along hence one nylon block on each bracket.
And Ray like making things when he can to keep costs down as we were very surprised when we added up all the reciepts of things we have bought for the vans resto 
But its all worth it

Hi Slide fans!
How did your samples help out Wendyh? I 'my thinking of going for the felt  I  see on Scott's old auto rubber , to make it easy to get around the curves in the track. Haven't worked how to get them apart to  put a pan of glass in. One of mine was an acrylic window, just a bow and it pulled out. Not game to try it with glass. I've looked at the other tracks brackets you photo'ed, would have to see how they fit in a track, maybe it's a dual track style, but the track blade under the van  does not look parallel to the body. Mmmm. Interesting.  Hope to have some nylon material this week to start my lower bearing.

you got good timing ! i recieved yesterday some samples from Jenkins rubber in Cairns...
nothing seems to fit the 8 mm x 8mm so we have ordered some samples of some felt lined rubbber u channel that were able to trim down...i was just about to go up to the shed and see if it will work.
I got onto one company that had the exact size needed on their web page cataloge..but when i rang up about it they said that size u channel had been deleted years age      :(n BUGGA!
I also got some felt as well and it is a few mm to thick and about 4 mm short of being as wide as the pieces we took out of... one of the two windows we mananged to buy .
When we cleaned them up and striped out the old what we thought was rubber but  is actually a plastic moulded piece that the windows slide along horizontally and Verticaly the windows have felt in the channel.
so give me a day and i wll get back to you as to if the samples i ordered maybe suitable......

ok i didnt need a day i went up to the shed and it looks like the sample
SGC9-429  fits once i have trimmed off excess where i have placed the red pen marks.
the window channel is 8mm wide so when u cut away the side pieces it fits perfectly and the window slides nicley along the felt lined 5mm wide internal bit. ! so stoked to find a felt lined u channel !!
the other picture is of the plastic u channel that came out of one of the spare windows...reckon it would be very hard to get a replacement ...it even has holes that match up with the holes in the window for water drainage.

the samples came from Jenkins rubber shop In Cairns 07 40355899 they are happy to send you some samples.

Is it easy to trim? Found plastic in my tracks, also felt, probably a fix from long ago. The Scott's site has felt wide enough to be pushed into the tracks and fit the depth. I thought it may be easy to fit.

Got a block of nylon for free! Start on the block bearing soon. Haven't worked out how to fit a new glass, the channels must come apart to insert a new pane.

Got photos but I'm IT challenged, site said one photo is too big.

Computer says no . . .

I watch with interest.   Gotta push uphill to get the downhill thrill !!

yes the channel is nice and soft and easy to trim, we reckon the felt was standard in the vertical channels with the solid plastic for the upper and lower  horizonal channels ..easy for the glass to slide along and holes to allow water drainage.
we may get the wider felt that is thinner in thickness too to go in the curved sections.
Both are necessary for the glass to fit snugly and not rattle around.
Removing the glass from the window channells while still in the door is another challenge...we actually had to push the frame both top and bottom for the glass to come out.
the windows we have been playing with , we bought some sliding doors on ebay ..the bottomof the doors were rusted out so we asked the seller to cut of the bottom  and just send us the windows still in the body of the door.
Ray was able to prise out the clips from inside the door frame, somthing we wont be able to do with the door/window in original state. Im sure there is a way as we reckon the glass can only come out once the window framework is out so you can pull the channel apart ...
havent got to that point yet with the ones on the van.
we want to have some restored ones ready to go back in place so when can still use the van.
thats was a bonus to get free nylon blocks !

I printed off page 23 and contacted Spectrum....
yep the width of the u chanel is to wide for the bedfords narrow window channel. 
but these guys have the same ones that were sent as samples that i trimmed down and fitted perfectly.
