    Out of curiosity , why have so many Bedford vans lost three door checker straps things ,

Can't really comment on other vans, but mine spent the first 20 years of its life as a delivery van. So plenty of short trips with countless door opening and closing that has led to badly worn back door and driver door hinges. The check springs must have taken an absolute pounding and would have been the first thing to fail.
