G'day, my name is Owen, I first bought my Beddy 4yrs ago just before I started my apprentiship as an Electrician, I soon relised that apprentiships don't pay that well and I needed a reliable car,stat, if I was too keep my job.

So all my hard earned money (and loan) went into a VX commondoore wagon.  However I never could bring myself to get rid of my Beddie, a 1977 SWB poptop. I had so many good plans for her and it was a real shame to see her sittin down the backyard seemingly wasting away.
I first joined BUGA 4 yrs ago when I started fixing my bedford, but after some time of Commondore driving and no money forgot my username... I think it was (scrott4444).
However what I do remember is the friendlyness and helpfulness of all the members on the old forum, which seems to be continuing with the faster new one

I look forward to sharing some pics and stories with you guys as my Beddy progresses and is finally back on the road

My profile pic is of about the last time that I had the Bedford running.  I drove it to school on a tempory rego for Muckup Day (our last day of school) with a few mates, dressed as Ghost Busters with flashing lights on the roof and the theme music screaming through computer speakers hooked up too my inverter!
I have so many good memories of her and can’t wait to get her back on the road

Hi My Name is cyril davey i was born at 19/09/1943. I have an 1983 halom ambulans and have converted it to an campervan.
I took the 2.3 petrol engine out of the van and put a 2.3 opel diesel engine in the van.

This is the first time that I have been in to the site and will put some photos on when I find how to do it.

My nick name is Sid.

Hi, my name is Joe.

I have just discovered this site which is a shame cause I may well have used it alot over the years.
I have had 2 swb bedfords, over the years.. the first was a right trooper and while the rear panels may have fallen off somewhere between the desert and here .. the mechanics of it were perfect ..
But.. I fell in love with a clapped out ol thing in the back alleys of sydney and spent far too much money rebuilding it .. from engine rebuilt to the its pretty new paint job .. and then took it straight up past broken hill ... through camerons corner and back along the oodnadatta track to warm it up .. bit silly in hindsight .. but that road just out from camerons corner was bloody awesome!! I never had so much fun on a sandy track!

I lived and loved my beddies for 8yrs total ..

But then I needed to go further .. so sold the Submarine Mq2 (so name cause the Mq1 leaked like a MF - especially through the top of the passenger door  .. rather fantastic when you finally have a nice lady in the wagon and the rain lands right in her pretty lap!)
and headed O/s for a few years ..

But here I am ready to turn back full cycle .. and I have my eye on a very pretty bedford again ..

But .. I have a big question .. in all my years .. I never once heard of a bedford that ran on diesel.. but I am thinking it may be a better way to go as gas looks like it is going to be as high as petrol very soon ..

Does anyone know of diesel conversions for bedfords? or can recommend where to head?

Would be much appreciated ..

i had a kombi for six years it was sweet, thought it was time i moved up in the world and got me a Bedford , it's duel fuel running a 173 holden motor with a m20 gearbox no idea what sort o dif but it sits on 2k rpm at 100 k drove over from wa in it a couple o months ago without a hiccup . in vic now .  i'll put some pics up some stage but its no frills ,, ,  so far
