Yikes, that's a worry Gunning. Wouldn't it be funny if all of the sets they have sold us had the same key  ;D ;D ;D

Hey LS
I asked the same question on here ages ago...no one owned up ...they came on here asking to hire a van.
I was talking to them as i offered my van but they wanted a standard one, with standard rims.  :(
strange no one wants a purple one   ::) ::) ::) ::)
...there have been three chances with bedfords in movies adds and video clips.
They all are after stock standard ones for usually films etc that are dated ...anyway one day i may get my beddy a role in the lime light  ;D ;D ;D ;D
they were shooting in Brisbane...i have a feeling they eneded up buying one .. and im thinking it was a pop top one too as if you remeber about three of the guys were standing up with the arms waving in the air...it coulnt not have been a sunroof as usually only one person can fit thru them... so i reckon they took off the pop top roof..also to let in light for the close up inside scene in the van....thats my two bobs worth anyway ;)
Cheers Wendy & Ray

Good news Gunning. I'm guessing that the serial numbers on both sets of keys aren't the same.

Things have been busy of late, but here's a bit of an update - both the good and the bad.

I spent 3 months gettign my best mates new 1970 Valiant Regal Coupe ready to send over to him in Melbourne. I went right thru the car to make sure everythign was perfect. It was purchased with a built 318 V8, full suspension rebuild and a paintjob that was less than 10 years old and in excellent condition. The carby was a 600 Holley, which some of you will know I have no respect for, but to satisfy his requests, I put significant time into tuning the carby to egt the best out of the motor.

After much wasted time, I bolted a Quadrajet on and the car became an animal. Lack of traction aside, the car does everything you want it to when responding to throttle inputs, with a roar at WOT and a reasonable fuel consumption.

Being bright red and a 2 door, women seem to go crazy for the car, I'm kind of tempted to buy one myself after the reactions of everyone who ever saw it whilst I was driving and or parking it.

We sent the car to Melbourne with CEVA and on arrival were told it had come out of the harness in transit, which has damaged the paint and rear bumper.. the car was IMMACULATE prior to transit. I was understandably devastated, possibly more so than my mate who owns the car.

I then spent a few weeks out on site doing night shift, which meant I had nothing to do but purchase excessive amounts of parts for the Bedford, a birthday of epic proportions awaits delivery.

After arriving back from site, I got a beautiful day of driving the van on saturday, before visiting my grandad on sunday. As I left my grandads house, not 100m away, the rear wheel sheered the wheel studs causing extensive damage to the rear wheel arch and surrounding area. Luckily I was travelling at around 10 km/h when it happened. We then pulled the axle, to find that whoever did the 9" conversion many many years ago, had welded bolts into the axle which likely made them brittle due to a lack of flex, also making them more difficult to replace. Cutting and grinding entailed, prior to installing some ARP wheel studs he had in the shed, and I was eventually on my way better equipped than ever, with a heavily damaged rear.

I know some people think of cars/van/utes as just material possessions, however personally, I would hope that if I ever have kids, that I could love them even half as much as I love this van. That being said, I honestly felt as if I had lost a child when I stepped out of the van and saw the 295 wide rubber rolling at me with the van heavily damaged. I now have some pretty extensive work ahead of me, firstly replacing the bolts in the passenger side axle, followed by repairing the panels.

I implore you all to check the work done by previous owners, welded bolts in axles are one to definitely look out for and replace if present.

All this aside, I have a few modifications I have made recently, and a few more to make yet. I will be documenting these on here and on my mates new site http://www.modlist.net.au as the van returns to glory!

Sorry to hear about your mishap Matte. I sure hope that you will be able to restore the van to its original undamaged condition. Such bad luck that was, but good that you were going so slowly and no one apart from your van was harmed. Could have been way different if it had happened at speed. All the best with the repairs.
