Wish we could see that on tape, would have won funniest home videos for sure, luckily nothing was in front and everything turned out well, and on the real positive side you have properly saved hours of time getting the pump to work, glad your safe and no harm done  :D :D :D

Cheers

Graham

Marty the hyd pump will have a pick-up pipe with a gauze filter to sift debris and gunk which given the time it has been sitting may have been severely blocked. The high revs and bouncing across the grass most likely loosened the gunk enough to get a flow happening. While counterweight is off most probably best time to check and clean tank and service pump as this oil gets very hot during use and over the years deteriorates badly. By the way it looks like the old 5t Nissan fork we once had (6t when we had the 44 drum with ball mills on the back) and should run on fuel and gas with a toggle switch on left side of steering column to switch fuel system.

Oh yeh and before ya start set the camera up on tripod :-)

I can laugh about it now but I tell ya I nearly had heart failure.
Glad I made a few laugh,
I woulda loved to get it on video, lol.
It's a common occurrence in my life without even trying,
Just hope it never becomes fatal, :D :D ;D

I will pop up a few pictures when I get her all painted up
N looking perty,

P.s. I'm seriously thinking of investing in a crash helmet and full
motor cross armour for the paint job, haha

Sounds like you may need helmet and full armour driving it also (the Stig on a forklift)

Yeh their a handy bit of gear and will save your back more than anything. The jib attachments are handy aswell for picking stuff from the top and imagine how easy it will be to redo the front end of Beddy. If your around any salvage yards look out for the bogmats the cement trucks use about 2-3m long and 0.5m wide with holes in em to reduce weight. These are great for any soft ground and if ya have any hardwood blocks they are ideal to use under mast if you get bogged. Tilt forks back and jam blocks under mast and when you tilt forward it lifts wheels so you can pack underneath or change tires. For the rear steers just pick-up something heavy to lift arse end.

With the hydraulic pump they are a very small unit with a key way on shaft that sometimes breaks due to crap in the oil. Our pick-up was about 10mm of base of tank so it would always suck up crap so we shortened the shaft to keep it about an inch of the base and regularly strained oil and cleaned tank but this thing was doing 8-10 hrs a day in a dust bowl.
