Its been crazy of late, but about time for an update..
Recently back from touring the east coast, and before anyone complains about lack of visitations, I was strapped for time as it was.

I'm currently building up a new motor for my STREET HQ, 202 80thou bore, pistons 12thou down, 6.6cc dish in the pistons, 36.5cc head so i'll only be able to get around 10.8:1 but it's close enough to the race motors to keep me happy. I already have the race cam and straight cut gears installed (all ex previous race motors), baffled sump welded and repaired, cleaned up the head today and lapped the valves, got some performance but 'light' valve springs - as the 'heavy' springs are likely to break the cam without drilling it and putting a 4" bolt thru.
Tomorro I'll assemble the rest of the head, bolt it onto the block, and then i can look into bolting up the flywheel and dowelling it.. I'll need to scrounge thru some of the old race blocks for some lifters (antijack to 7000), find some straight pushrods, select some rockers, find a rocker cover that looks good (may even go for the bling chrome one.. hahah) and then it's just little things like selecting a good water pump, pulling off the HV oil pump from the current street motor, mount a clutch and drop the bugger in.. Hopefully all achievable by the end of the week (after work of course)

The van hasn't been missing out either..
Replaced the uni joint at the diff end, it was close to self destructing - amazingly close.. Tightened up the pinion bearing, replaced the recently replaced diff oil.. haha. Diff is quiet as a mouse, and responsive as hell.
Gave the auto a new filter and some fresh oil due to a noise that appeared a few weeks back, the noise was reduced however it was done during the days before i left so havent had time to fully investigate, may well just need another half litre or so.
And onto the fun stuff.. I've been bugarising around with the gas setup for some time now, many different variations along the way, and have gone from reasonable performance to something far more entertaining. Now, most people would have been happy with the improvements, however I'm never satisfied. I've been making a few pieces between work and grandads to mount the gas carb directly ontop of the quadrajet, this will remove ALL restrictions between the gas carb and petrol carb, however will mean the engine cover will be remaining off for a while ;) Next on the list is to replumb the air into the carb.. first thing is first tho, get home early enough to mount the new setup and go for a burn.. i'll call it tuesday if im lucky.

Well thats enough of a taste to keep things going, if im less slack than usual I may well get some photos for you

Cheers,
Matte
