Hey Ladies and Gents, long time no see..
Things have been pretty hectic and wild of late, so i apologise for my poor attendance record.

I've recently started a new job, more hours and more days working, which means less time playing (or sleeping depending on which is more important at that point in time..)

The van has been pretty good to me, although i did have the accelerator cable shear the other day.. my mates were loving controlling the accelerator with a pair of pliers while i was steering and braking..
Unfortunately i couldn't get a replacement part, but found a universal kit.. If i'd thought about what i was doing a little longer it would have been a VERY quick changeover, but alas i chose the difficult highly custom route (although that is mandatory isn't it?)

I saw Griff on the way home from work last week, tho he wasn't driving in style like he should have been  >:(

Lots of things i want to do to the van, need to do, and really should do, so i'll post again when i can be bothered typing more.. Just thought i should let you all know im still alive(while typing this atleast) so you can all stop stressing and get a good nights sleep..  ;D

Hey guys, well i am still looking for a new metal guy, no luck, so it looks like i may have to bring back sleepy from the coast, i am dreading the stress again. But with only a few things left to do in the way of custom bodywork, i may have to bite the bullet, clench the teeth and just get it done.
But first up i need to get my cruiser fixed, the accessers have been flat out, so i need to sort that this month.

had a busy week with storm damage in york but all ok now.
I took the chrome striping off the roof of the green van to my surprise it has no rust at all underneath it so very happy about that one.

I also managed to track down the original owner of my blue van so that's been great hes been very helpful in a bit of history with it got the original paint code and also found out it used run personal plates MRTVAN !!
ur a bedford owner ....adapt overcome work it out

I've been working on the custom van, getting the body done. Had to put a skim of bog around the window recess, dodgy tube of hardener messed up two skims, first one went off way to quick and second didn't go off at all. can grind it of when it's hard but when it wont go hard it's a nightmare to get off.

had a mishap with the standard van, had a full tank of gas and the other day the temp was 27 and the gas in the tank expanded and leaked out the cap, which in turn melted all the paint under the filler, so pissed off, was a tidy looking van, now looks like crap. Haven't got time to fix it before the van nats :(

haha non aussies and the term gas.. he obviously meant petrol, a leaking gas vapour isn't going to melt paint below the filler.. heheh
But busy, that sucks.. I've often thought about upgrading the filler pipe to something off a late model car so that if it were to leak it would do so thru a tube that runs down the inside of the paintwork rather than over the paint work itself

yeah sorry guys, petrol

what do you mean by restricter ben ?
Is standard VN commodore petrol tank

Matte, it has the breather pipe at the top of the filler that goes down to the tank, that should of returned the fuel (petrol) but I guess the tank was just to full. I only filled it up to work out how much gas I used. lesson learnt, never full the tank.

useless info: On the holden forums they reckon the commodore petrol pumps inside the tank can overheat if run on empty.

Hey guys, correct me if i am wrong, but dont think i am.  ;) On new cars 80s so on, you fill the tank till the nozzel clicks off, that is the indicator that the tank is filled to the right level. With the cruiser i let it click once, then give it another squirt till it clicks again a sec later, and that is the safe level. how do i know, well the hard way. Back in about 93 we hired a late model camper van, to go to sydney in, anyhow we filled up along the way, and i took it as far as i could fill it, so we take of from the servo, and man did it cough and splutter, for about 30mins. Short version, i was told later, that i over filled and blocked off the breather with fuel, so it was choking it till the fuel level dropped away, so from that day on with new cars i do the 2 click thing with the nozzel, and have never had the problem again.

With the beddy, we have built a custom fuel filler, and we have made sure that we have all the factory tubing and breathers in the finished job, had no choice, it would never of passed if we did'nt. Rule is if you use a part out of another car, you have to install it in your van in its original form, so if you fit a custom steering column, and it has an airbag in the wheel, you MUST have a working airbag. Thats why our custom steering was the model b4 the airbag model, both look identical, but about $3000 cheaper.
