I am debating on whether to buy a new ford ute or go for something with a bit more character. $2500 sounds good. How long until it will be rego'd?

Just got to get the brakes done, windscreen replaced and put the new floor carpet in......hope to get most of all that done by the end of next week, then i will try for rego after that....all going well should be ready in 2 - 3 weeks i guess.

Sweet. Let me know how you go. I am pretty keen on it.
I had a couple Beddies. I gave my blue one to Craig and sold Borrie to Dano and have been kicking myself since.

my standard van update:
motor and box etc all in, engine bay bits all done, inside mostly done, just a bit more wiring to do really and a cable or two.
have been waiting for a price for my driveshaft - $500!!  f#@k that, 2 new universals are $100 +gst, and balance $90 + gst and all the rest to supply a tube and weld the ends on.

my custom van update:
none sadly - not enough hours in a day

Oh and I can't find the thread it was mentioned on, but a VN commodore timing chain tensioner, got it priced up at $300 + gst )thats with trade discount, series 2 is slightly cheaper ($20) than series 1

There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't. What you've got to do is turn around and say "watch me"

Screw that. You guys must have a Pick-A-Part somewhere local. They always have shiteloads of Commodores. Go find a later model one with the Buick V6 and rip one out of there. They'll probably only charge you $10 aside from the hour it takes you to rip it out. Don't put an original VN back in there because you're setting yourself up for failure again.

Oh yeah, it was mentioned in a thread you started as well. Here...  http://www.buga.com.au/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=2&topic=2057.10
