Hay Ben, with the new tech... exhausts out there, you could make it sound like a V8 no problem.

Baz you're right the exhausts can sound alot liek a v8, my mates VY commodore sounds alot like a v8, but you either have to get semi stuck into the throttle, or be in the car following to hear it...
for me, the best thing about a v8 is that i can hear it idling right next to me, so i dont need to floor it to hear it.
not everyone is like me, but me + 6cyl = excessive speed
where as me + v8 = happily cruising below the speed limit
 ;D

Ok MaTTe, worked in the van movement in the 80's for years, and fully understand what you are saying and agree, but times change, gas is higher, performance and be changed by a (chip) in a V6, V8 full rebuild and $'s later. The V6 lacks the ROCKING feeling, you can't get better than the eight, maybe one day we can step up to the new Holden V8, but I think we are talking about the old V8's that most of us know and love so much. :)

Bas you're right, the v6's are a dime a dozen and have reasonable performance too, they're also cheaper on fuel...
With gas tho, any motor is affordable to run. There's no way i could afford to run my van on petrol all the time, but i can afford to run it on gas most of the time and enjoy petrol on occasions
Personally i think the old school V8s sound alot better than the new holden V8s, i dont like the firing order of the new school. Performance wise the GenIII/Gen IV might be better/easier to achieve but that all depends on your knowledge base i guess

Personally if i were to put a new 6cyl in, i'd be going a ford BA-FG straight 6, more power, more torque, more tunable, and the motor is already *similar* shape to the 202. Plus it's easy to bolt on a turbo down the track when you want more
One day............

I saw a light green van pull into BP Innaloo a couple of days ago, same colour as Daves, but without the flowers

I also had a couple of blokes rock up at my place asking about my van, they really want one for their business, so i sent them down to Lynford to look at the van there........

Plenty of other stuff going on, but i'll update later
