hey folks, what a fortnight this has been, started my column last week,  and finished the install of my new steering column on monday. Last friday we got rid of the battery rack, and cut my front doors. Went to my mates place saturday and got another door and hinges. My sheet metal guy will be here tomorrow, to finish the front doors, i should have my new laser cut custom grill here tomorrow, and my modified headlight rings should be back. My mechanic is now sorting out the link between my column and steering rack. So if everyone turns up on time now we should get our target done by the end of this month. I also got a break to go and look at my new wheels and tyres, so they are now agreed on. Also guys we dropped my van off the hoist for the 1st time in a year, to the week. And i climbed into my van for the 1st time in six years, it felt good sitting in my van again.

hey john, no mate, the VP columns are so plain and, have very little controls on them, so i went for a later model column out of a Toyota, where everything i need is at my finger tips. Wiper, washers, lights, criuse control, flasher, blinkers and a tilt column. We had to fabricate a complete new set of brakets to mount it in. Also we were lucky in that we are able to use the existing hole in the floor, which means not cutting any more floor, and not having to move or re-rout cables and lines. We just need to get the linkage for the for rack, and then machine something that will join ford and toyota in holy matrimony. From there the next big task will be wiring up the cruise control, toyota to commodore.
Well have to get ready for the sheet metal guy who will be here within the hour, i can't wait to see my new laser cut grill, any time now, oh yeh. Let me tell you, everytime i have a minute, and wonder if i should keep going, something like getting the grill just spurs me on again, and i feel energised and ready to keep going. I will update soon.

will do john, if you can wait till we pull it back out, i will get some close up pics of the new brackets. So far the new bracket is just tact in there while we line everything up.We need to remove it and fully weld everything once all is set up.I will take plenty of pics for you johnno. At least my mechanic is reliable, more then i can say for the sheetmetal guy.

On the brink of letting the old girl go to a new home,I've laid down insulation and new rubber on the floor, poly batts and covered 4mm ply in the roof. Now after 22 years of putting up with a van so  noisy I couldn't hear myself think, it's quiet enough to talk to my passengers and hear the stereo, I've rienforced and welded up the front chassis put on new tyres and starter motor. Well it looks like I'l be keeping her for a few more years yet....All I need to do now is get the speedo working that hasn't worked in fifteen years and the fuel gauge...Oh and gutters, straiten body panels, new roof ect ect ect  ::) ;) :D ;D
