hi all, well have finally picked up my new custom steering column. Complete column from rack coupling to steering wheel. When I say custom, it is off another vehicle, but it will be custom to my van. I can't wait to get it fitted now to see how it is going to look. one step closer, oh yeh.  ;D
To the guys here in brissy, at some stage later this year I will be selling some of the gear off my van, if anyone is looking for replacement beddy parts :
Steering Column
Steering Wheel
2x Steering Racks [ 1 reconditioned ]
186 Red Motor
Drum Brakes
I will be waiting though till we are up and running, just in cases we need the originals for any reason. I will post when I'm ready to sell.
George.

Dano! that looks like the goods, i've been thinking long and hard about how to do my interior when i eventually get around to it, and it seems that having it stitched will be the best option, though anyone smart would not want to take on the ideas i have in my head.. haha
I'll definately discuss them with you at a later date.

Beddycrazed: sounds liek you've been thinking outside the box, lets hope it all comes together without hassle.

The last couple of weeks have been good, abouring but good.
We have FINALLY finished this drivers door, all painted and now ready to mount. I have just bought some new side mirrors that have now been mounted basically, just gotta finish the wiring and adjust the angle slightly, we painted them today, but they'll probably want to be rubbed down slightly and touched up because i was too slack to use an undercoat on them and painted over the previous paint (not the best idea ever..)
So now all panels are painted and fitted bar the fitting of the drivers door, so now i'm just waiting on the bubble windows back from Arron, that aus post decided not to deliver today, so we'll have to wait until tuesday ::)
I've remade the door trims the same as they previously were, not quite what i want in the long term, but they'll keep the van looking as good inside as out. Ive also redone the headlining and a few other bits and pieces..
I'll get the gas tank checked next week and make sure all the fluids are ok, and should be ready just in time for next weekends race meeting.

We've also done a bit of preparation for the race weekend, in and around dealing with the destruction of the hail storm.. the race car look like a golf ball, but its not as bad as my grandads car, VERY lucky the bedford was in the shed.

so things have been busy, but im sure it'll be about the same next weekend too, getting close tho!

you are all too energetic, I put a few pound of air in my van's back left tyre last week, does that count.
But at least the old girl is still on the road and hasnt missed a beat (well not too many) in 3 or so years as a daily driver.

cheers

dave i can't wait to have the van back as a daily driver, and worry about air pressures every couple of months..
fortunately mechanically this van is perfect... and now the body is pretty close too..

Hi George

This is what I did to fit mine. Don't know how much relevance it has to your conversion but might be of some help.

I probably should update it at some stage.

Matte
my van is far from mechanically perfect, it probably shouldnt even be on the road, but for some reason unrelated to my mechanical ability it keeps going.
