The linkage on the bottom had flogged out and would not select gears.....it is an easy fix but the other problem was the wiring loom had allot more wires than the old one
so i thought rather than spending hours and hours sorting it out i would put the old one back.....i will make a nice surround for it with the PRND1L on it myself. The other one is
fixable i just cant be bothered anymore.

make sure u have a lot of good deep penetration welds on that gantry ben,
and that c channel next to your foot shoulda been welded back 2 back for greatest strength.
exactly like u did the furtherist away from ur feet, bottom section.

just remember that it may hold the weight of a vehicle for so long but could fall 2 bits at any second if it isnt welded together properly. dont get under a vehicle solely hanging under it. put good stands or a few wheels laying on top of eachother side2 side under it so if it does let go u or anyone wont be crushed 2 death.

i wouldnt like lifting a motor by the alloy inlet manifold either, i think id rathermake up some steel plates that bolted 2 the head exhurst boltholes,
but thats just me. it might be ok lifting from 4 alloy boltholes but it looks unsafe 2 me.

Spent the weekend working on the race car repairing the hail damage that was really problematic, then went out to race on sunday. We wont the first 2 races where including the reverse grid(where we started last) but made a change to make the car more safe in the last race - which turned out to be a little too safe, and a minor mistake from the driver saw him go from first to 4th, but all in all it was a good weekend.

Ben, i'd be trying to find a spot in the cast iron rather than the alloy if possible too.
The gantry looks good, but if you used the mig, you want to be sure you had good penetration, as a cold lap can be very dangerous, as marty said - prep yourself for the worst case scenario and you'll be fine..

Kimbo, what seals did you go with? I spent about 30-45 mins in at Woodsies today talking about rubbers, his prices sounded a bit excessive, so we ended up going to Rare spares and got the barn door kit off the shelf, and have the front door kit on order.. The rear kit has to be glued together, i thought they could supply a single piece.. but we'd already opened the packet so we had already semi committed to the sale.. it'll work out alright, but im sure i've seen a spectrum single piece rubber..
