I have no experience with this, but have heard that the 5 speed is not as strong as the 4 speed.
Others may be able to verify.
Funny old life.

i have also herd the borg wagner 5 speed is quite weak especially the 5th gear. you would be better looking at a celica box or supra if you can afford the conversion bell housing and speedo cable and everything else that goes with it..

cheers

Hey guys, my V6 conversion kit has turned up, so that will be happening now. Has anyone got advice on the 4speed auto from 93 VP ? anything I should tell my mechanic. Has anyone got same setup and are you happy with performance ?

hey ben, are they ok for just normal driving and cruising on the highway, assuming the right diff is in place, highway diff. Thats all i'm after, unlike some i dont want to race it, or i would stick a V8 in it. I just want to cruise on a sunday.

yeh should be fine for that. and there so cheap to replace.

i wanna do a t700v6 auto behind a holden 6 just for the overdrive but the conversion bell housing cost 4 times the transmission!! one day:)

bed767 brisbane here
a turbo700 is a turbo350 plus a fourth gear and a lock up converter. To activate this function you need  a yank kit. However the aussie box has a heat sensor, to make the kit work the sensor needs an internal rewire. not hard to do or expensive, mine works atreat, work it out myself.  The vn-vp boxes can be done as they are cable controlled, but no later, as they are then computor actuated,vy for instance the lockup happens in 3rd then still locked up goes to overdrive.
