Well, thanks to Mezzmo and Eddy I got the camper running.

Saturday saw me and Eddy Remove the heart out of Mezzmo's Van

Sunday it was the Campers turn - rip out the old motor and put in the new one.

By 4:00 pm we had the motor running yeehaaa! ;D

Thanks to Eddy for all his help and knowledge, and even bigger thanks to Mez for the engine thats made it all happen.

I have a vid of it starting, but I need to work out how to compress it (78 meg) befor I can post it.

shucks ... sorry Waz but I just gotta let the boyz know about the you know what  ;) seems Waz and I have a inherited habit of starting electrical fires. I recall that we had flames and smoke coming from the dash area when we were working on the wiring to the tow van (thanks to resting the fuse box on the go pedal ...... we had the same thing happen Sunday after we fired up the motor from Mez in the camper van only this time it was much more exciting  :o this time we had bigger flames and much more smoke and you guessed it .... at the fuse box coz a hot wire came into contact with the go pedal again ....  :-[ only this time we emptied half a canister of fire extinguisher to put it out !!!!!! and made a real freakin mess .... woops sorry bro  :-[ but was a good weekend apart from our wiring mishaps  ;D ;D ;D ;D oh and by the way Mez .... that is one flash van you have there brother!!!

Didn't get a chance to take pics of the go pedal BBQ cause we waz stressin out brother !!!!

I think I took one after the smoke died down, But I think my camera is still at eddys.

Seems that when I was taking the excelorator pedal out to put in a new cable, i moved a heavy lead that was unfused, direct from the battery, well after driving the van up onto some ramps, it would apear that the heavy cable had a bit of unshelided wire just near the connector, and as murphy often does, it just so happended to touch up agains the excelorator spring,

Now its nice to have a bar heater to keep you warm and all, but that spring was just a little to close to the insulating matt  on the fire wall, and well....it started to toast it, and of coarse the insulator on the cable didnt like all that heat that the spring was generationg so it decided to combust as well.

I must say though, the greatest risk I faced to choking was from eddys enthusiastic application of a very fine talcum powder all through the front half of the van - while I was in there disconnecting the battery leads.

Suprisingly very little damage was done by this impromptue BBQ, but I am going to looking a all the wiring and remove all the bodgie stuff, thats after I get the brake lights working of coarse.

Well after $3000 worth of work, "Playtime" is home, and ready to begin work on repairing the tragic rust:( and then to paint, unfortunately the hours ive put in at work to pay for the work is taking its toll, and i think i might need to take a rest for a month or so, im just flat broke, and way behind on bills:( but she still drives, and all new braking system, new front end with paint, new temp battery (so she can be driven up and down the driveway), had to get new...new ball upper balljoints as apparantly the ones i got given to me had the boot stuck to the joint and wouldnt go on without tearing:( also a degrease underneath, which wasnt qite enough to clean the tranny up, but considering i plan to go auto, isnt a big deal.

So far my "$1000" to get on road, has reached $3k, and climbing.......aloooot.....but when i went to pick it up today, cars were slowing down just to look at the rusted beauty, people have actually gone and brought SWB's after seeying mine at brakes plus. People have sat down in there workshop and discussed what could be done to the van (interior wise), and a small part of me thinks that by continuing on this difficult, and painfull journey......i can help keep these pieces of art alive:) if only i had a muralist friend;) id be wrapped.

BTW drives like a bycicle thats been hit by a car (no shocks, and need to be fully alligned and tyres properlly fitted)...so im a little scared:) hahhaha
