I just bought tickets to next year eclipse on Easter Island.  ($400 US) most expensive party ever.

I've been playing with my front end - bonnet, wipers etc

so now the bonnet opens forwards, I only have the radiator and booster in the front so wont be a pain to get into.
originaly I wanted the bonnet to go straight up (with rams) but engineers wanted a safety catch ... which would only lend to bent rams, so then I wanted it opening sideways, had the hinge and everything worked out then trying it the bottom corners binded as I have extended the front of the bonnet. I can't open the bonnet normally because of the placement of air con pipes and stuff
So now just have to work out a way to open and close the bonnet electrically (why do I get myself into these things)
still working on the catch too

G'day

I have been a bit off my game lately, I hadn't bought a car in weeks. I seem to have made up for it in the last couple of days.
I bought a Holden Barina and a Ford Longreach Ute at the damaged vehicle auction, and today am I swapping my Rodeo Ute for a VT Commodore Wagon. Just for fun.
The problem I have is that most of my stories end with... and that is why I am not allowed to go back there!

hey busy bro ..... ya got me all confused now with your pic ...... why did you perform the top chop only to increase the roof height with the ute canopy? and are you hoping to save fuel by keeping runners close by just in case you need to walk somewhere ?  ??? or are you thinking electric and is that a gynormous battery charger at the front of the van? looking good though bro  ;)

haha yeah I was going to mention the addition to the top. but thought I'd just try slip it through.
The runners are my safety boots - maybe ben and I are siblings  ::)
I suppose I could say "my van has big feet" with those runners there
The battery charger is actually a welder needed to keep welding bits on that fall off  ;D

Busy, this way if the bonnet opens at these high speeds you will be doing at least the wind will close it  for you and not rip it off as it would do as standard.

high speeds? I'm to broke to afford petrol to run it, at this stage it might be cheaper to tow it places lol *it wont be a trailer queen*

This brings up a good point though, I've had bedford vans since the 80's and can't ever remember hearing or having a bonnet blow open (even though the safety catches are dodgy as anything). I think it might be impossible to have the bonnet blow open as the angle of the front lip pointing downwards.

So the question is: Have you ever had or heard of a bedford bonnet coming open by itself while driving?
