Have been trying to rectify my crap tailshaft set-up. I will post up a pic when i can. Might be able to use the tailshaft out of a 2004 lwb transit bus and modify that? That has a tailshaft that is 2.8 metres long so should have enough to play with, hopefully :-\ Anyway stay tuned... ;D cheers ..johnno

It seems that the problem with my tailshaft is that someone at some stage has tried to make up lwb shaft from "bits and pieces" of other vehicles. The result is the centre bearing is not in the right place on the shaft and therefore eventually tears the bearing out of the rubber holder . The shaft has always been the weakest link in the whole drive line. Hey Ben, would it be possible for you to give me a measurement of that tailshaft you have? cheers...johnno ;D

Marky; is there two differant bearing sizes for the HQ? did you machine the hubs , which is the larger bearing size please....I'd like to chase up a set of drop spindels but am running ford stud pattern and believe the drop spindels are HQ.

Johno:Have you spoken to VEEM engineering in Willetton. remember if that lets go at hwy speed bye bye beddie . Hate for that to happen ;) mine was around the 350 from memory :)

Standard Hq discs wouldnt fit on my New Stub Axles

I had to...Machine

(Roadside)Outside face - Bearing has to be countersunk..old bearing is different in diameter its smaller...

(Engine side)Inside face-- Bearing n position r same .... but hub needs to be shaved .... to allow for clearance for bolts on Stub axel face

and gives the amount of thread for the axel to tighten bearings...hope this helps

i willl grab the Bearing nos today  for you all

Marky

these bolts have had a shave on one side so to allow the discs to spin....otherwise they hit on the lugs of the disc brake

geez this is hard to explain in words. :D ..i ususally use my hands n lots of gestures ha ha
