Well Today finally got our moneys worth out of the NRMA premium care we fork out each year  :D
Was in Blacktown picking up a load of milk bottles, just after i loaded i decided to filll up at a servo around the corner, since LPG is 20 cents cheaper in Sydney than Morisset  >:(
got out of the van and walked round the front of the van to fill her up when i noticed water dripping / pouring onto the ground from under the bonnet ....ohhh noooo!!!!!
i lifted the bonnet and stuck my head in to see water pouring out of the radiator and a swipe mark left by the fan  ???
Shit ! it only just happened...was puzzled and glad I decicded to fill her up before i did the 150kmdrive home thru sydney peak hour traffic and 1 hour drive on northbound freeway.
so i ring nrma and ask for a tow truck as a partolman wont have a spare bedford radiator  to get me home...but ohhhh noooo thats to easy and way too quick :-\
because you are more than 100km from home and premium we have to stuff you round for a few hours...so to make a long wait short ..i was home in 4 1/2 hrs.!
Ray not long ago put new engine mounts in the van and we are thinking thay are way to soft and allowed enough movement for the fan to rub a small section and make a hole...and  as bedford owners you probably know there is not much clearance between the engine and the grill ...bugger all in fact  :(...now i didnt go over any speed humps  ...just left and indusrtial area onto a main road and into a servo...so its got me beat as to what made it flex that much ....anyway home safe n sound and another challenge for Ray  to solve ;D
hot off the press ...
while im typing this ray has already pulled out the radiator and found an alloy fan he spotted in my brothers shed a while back...were thinking a new radiator is needed as upon inspecting the beddies original one (were got reconditioned  3 yrs ago)is rotting away in places  and its done some kms...and now with the turbo and summer on the way a nice new alloy one sounds like the go  :)
Gotta love ya beddy no matter what the challenge  ;D :D ;D :D
Cheers Wendy & Ray

Sorry to hear about your mishap Wendy, at least you caught it before any major damage to your motor.

Luck you found the water on the ground.
I'm surprised you'd go alloy as they have way more flex than steel.
Why not run twin thermo/electric fans, run one full time and the other when temp rises
There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't. What you've got to do is turn around and say "watch me"

I'm with Busy- go electric. I have 2 smaller fans from a ford laser FWD job that are very narrow- 1 each side of the water pump pully. And if you get a new & bigger radiator, just get one with a sender unit hole for the fans!

You will notice the increase in HP without the fan drag... not that you are short of HP with the turbo.  ;D
Workin for the weekend!

Yep, I'm with everyone else. Twin electric is the way to go.

yeah electric is diffinately nice if you can fit it .... I have just been trial fitting a ford mondeo twin thermo setup into my Bedford, if you have about 8cm between the water pump and the radiator it should fit!

thermo switches are cheap too so can have it setup to cut in and out as it needs to.

Im on the road again!!!! ...just couldnt wait to get back on the road again ...lal alah lah ..... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Im SOOOO lucky Ray loves his beddy as much as i do !
He fitted a brand new standard radator back in it ($330 from syd),last night so i could do the organic vege run to syd at 3 am this morning!
Ray fitted the thinnner alloy fan (we spotted in my brothers shed) gave plenty of clearence for the engine mounts to flex all they want..hey i only turned into a sevor driveway.! ??? not like i was doing moto cross in her..

We err Ray will look into the themo fans ... this option got me back on the road again lal lah  playing music with my friends.....hahaha...
JohnG is measuring some small thermo fans he has so we will see if they will fit either side of our water fan...

i bet you all have that tune singing in your head now..  ::)  :D :D :D :D

So Thanx everyone for your concern & advice ..  ;) :)
Cheers Wendy & Ray
