Well, will be able to finish the Carport come Garage, if the weather stays fine. Need it under cover to work on it over winter, so it can be ready for the Nationals next year.... ???

Hey Bas, i like that carport, is it a kit. I am guessing that it is height adjustable looking at the threaded tops of the post, awesome, but what is the little gem you have hidden under that cover. I am running out of space in my workshop so am looking at something secure to build but not costing the earth.

Hey Bas. Nice carport.

The first installment for next years Nationals is out now so flick me an e-mail at gr8van@xtra and i'll send you through the first info sheets. Looks like it could be a good run (as usual).

Cheers,
Garry.

Yes George, the basic carport came from a kitset, but it was only 2m high and my Beddie sits on 2.2m being the Jumbo, so had to make up some extension at a mates engineer shop. The carport only sits on 2.8m wide and as I don't have the space to go wider, I am putting a extension out the top on one side with a drop down cover to give me 3.5m wide, the other 2 side will be filled in, the drop down cover will fold back in when not working on the van and seal this side and this will allow me parking room on the side, hard to explain but will post photos as I do more. The height has been taken up to 2.6m as this will allow me to put the van up in the air to work on, when I change the diff over etc.

Cost: I have lost count but not to bad, as I could buy nothing to suit what I needed, as you can see it was a 6 post carport but redesigned one side and took out the post to give me room to work on the van, the only draw back I can see at this stage is when I work on the van I have to turn the van around so the side I'm working on is facing the step out side.

The things we do for our vans, but thought when its finished it's a good place to park the van out of the weather, will also have a roller door if I can find a cheap one.

The little Gem ;D it's had a few upgrades on the body, so must keep it under cover at the moment ;)

Ok, will email you tomorrow. Will be in Oz just before the nationals, and then back to Germany just after, so works out well.

I finally finished the windscreen and roof sections, went to drive the van out of the garage for a photo and the starter solenoid decided it wasn't going to play ball, last time I went to drive it (van nationals), it started fine but wouldn't drive, trans pump decided it had had enough.

I knew I had a spare chevy starter so dug it out, tested it and thought sweet. Then I thought, hmm better count the teeth, and sure enough was wrong one. I ripped the solenoid off it and put it on the other one, then I ran out of day, so tomorrow hopefully after I get back from the docs.
Oh and one of my back mag wheels have gone flat, pumped it up, if  it's still up tomorrow I'll get photos from both sides else will just be from the one side :D
