I think I destroyed my van today, cut the windscreen frame out to replace with standard frame. Idea was to sink into the roof and use a visor (the fibre glass moulded ones) to hide the top.
Have had a lot going on, Aunty loosing  a breast to cancer, my mum in and out of hospital, girlfriend buying a house ... so mind wasn't really into it but wanted to get it finished for a hot rod show in jan and then legal for van nationals at easter.

I measured twice but forgot about the angle, to save it would mean changing the door frame shape but have already got my side window glass cut. Second idea was to sink the bottom 30mm to get it back into the roof, top works but the corners are still sticking out, grr
plan M is to angle it slightly but I don't want to loose the bedford angle - i keep seeing that yellow one in England that was angled back in my mind and i don't like the look of that. I can't really sink it down much more because of the wipers and air con/heater unit.

Lifes a bitch sometimes
There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't. What you've got to do is turn around and say "watch me"

Busy, that sucks!
The windscreen took us about 3 days to get right (due to there being almost no metal to work with) a days worth of measuring, a days worth of fabrication, and a days worth of welding and finishing (realistically probably an extra half day of finishing too)
We didnt need to change angles or anything, so your job is harder than what we were up against.

In reality angling the windscreen slightly (80degrees down to 65degrees or so) would be an advantage for fuel consumption. However before you do any more cutting/welding, maybe make up a quick jig of the windscreen in steel so you can get an idea of what you're up against without risking the screen everytime you want a measurement.

In my head I figured you'd maintain the straight sections of the uprights and move the top curves and horizontals down a specified distance (3 inches or whatever chop you did on the roof) and then do the same amount on the lower horizontal, with bracing to suit.
Now the practical side of this procedure is obviously more difficult.

Again the best advice i can offer is to get the measurements off a standard van and make it match that cavity.

Good luck, i have faith in your skill.
Cheers,
Matte

majority of panel beating done so been sanding priming dust coating sanding priming dust coating
keep singing a spiderbait song to myself (probably because no-one else will)
"f***en Awesome" - Spiderbait (studio version)

having said panel beating is done, thinking of changing plans for rear lights, so more shaping required
If you like it do it, If you like it a lot do it a lot!

Hey guys,
found this pic on line yesterday, thought it was well done, a lot of detail gone into it. Dont know if i would drive around with it on my van though, might get  a bonnet with it on and hang it on a wall in the workshop.
