the second pic is my old dash in the donor frame
There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't. What you've got to do is turn around and say "watch me"

G'day

Today I replaced the fuel tank in the new CFL van. Someone had run over a stump and very badly dented it. The van is a 1977 model and I only had one tank the same as it.

I had never played with a fuel tank before and I discovered the following:
The SWB vans tanks have a different inlet.
Truck tanks have a different inlet.
There are early model tanks that don't have a drain plug.
So I calculate at least 6 different types of CF tanks.

A tip is that the 2 straps that hold the tank in are held by bolts that have a fine thread. A tube spanner or spark plug socket of size 9/16" makes the job a lot easier.
The problem I have is that most of my stories end with... and that is why I am not allowed to go back there!

Yeah, it can take ya awhile with a ring spanner! That's what I've always used. I'm gonna try the spark plug socket idea when I finaly get the chance to fit my tank back in!........

I've been living infront of my computer for the past few weeks recording records onto my portable harddrive!....... Wow, this is gonna take awhile!....... I've done about 1 1/2 crates worth, which is exciting, but I haven't even scratched the surface yet :(

Looking forward to getting back to the van. The way things are currently progressing I can't see the old girl being back on the road and registered by the 19th :'(. Means I'll have to drive the Crappydore to Brisbane and then Sydney. My 9 year old told me yesturday that if I picked him up in Sydney in the Poop mobile, he'd tell Grandma to give away my pressies! :P

Started the mounting of the front bumper… Carbon fibre’d some bolts onto the inside, fixed to the chassis. Need to fix the sides down, finish the fibreglassing up to make it all look pretty & bog then sand back.

Also the wiring is 99% complete for the first stage (warrantable). So it’s firing off the “push start” button, gauges, headlights, indicators, hazards, fans etc etc are all functioning… Just need to straighten up the birds nest in the corner & mount the fuse boxes etc. Looking forward to another sneaky drive this weekend hopefully…

He he he. I got my fingures crossed that I'll find an XC door in my stocking! ;D Oooh, and the engineer apporves the back seats without too much modification ;) Don't mean to sound gready, but I have been very, very, very (times the universe) good this year! ;D

Just a sneaky blat down the road & back… As you can see a Police Officer would have a field day writing tickets if I got pulled up with it in that state!

That's great! I remember doing something similar year ago in my Panelvan, with no front end. Just the radiator support (for obvious reasons) and the V* was there out in the open in all it's glory! Should have seen the looks I was gettin from people on the streets and other cars! Was a riot! ;D Kinda felt like I was driving a hot rod he, he ;D

Just got back from picking up my newly repaired and painted fuel tank and chromed tank straps! ;D ;D Woohoo!! ;D ;D Better get that other headlight in, then I can go for a sneaky little hoobly harbly around the block for some inspiration ;)
