Mystery Carby

I`ve picked up a carb & manifold from a mystery vehicle today . I think a 202 . Picture added ( I hope ) .
Anyone know what  it`s from ?
Will the set-up bolt straight on to my standard 186 motor ( using the original exhaust manifold ) ?
Can I / Should I get more go with the swap ?
Would it improve fuel economy or otherwise ?
Any assist much appreciated .

The manifold on my 186 has water hoses connected to it from the engine but the `mystery` one don`t have any provision for them .  Does the `202` carb not need them ?  I`d love to know what I`m up against if I try and swap the carb/manifolds over  . Has anyone been there ?
The `ol Bedmobile has been put on blocks ( for a gearbox swap & steering repair ) and will be out of action for a while .  I need to have it all good to go for when the van outing at the Gepps Cross drive-in is on ( anyone know what date that is? ) .

Bob,

this carby and manifold will bolt up to your engine, you just need to loop the water/heater hose back to the engine where it was connected to the old manifold.

This carby looks like it has been sitting around for a while so it would be best to put a carby kit through it. This will have new gaskets and needle and seat which will freshen it up.

What is up with your existing carby? You may be better off by just putting a carby kit through your existing carby and see what difference that makes.

The carby pictured is off a bigger engine (202) and will be jetted bigger so I do not think it will assist with fuel economy.

The fuel economy deal with Beddy's is all around the diff that is fitted.

Your beddy is likely to have the original diff and  so at 80kph the engine is doing over 3300 rpm and this is what is using the fuel.
If a highway diff is fitted the engine revs drop to around 1900rpm to reach 80kph so the engine is not working so hard and it is using less fuel.

Will have a `re-think` about the carb issue .  The old one runs ok so it,s the old '' if it aint broke don`t fix it ''    .

hey postie bob the hz 202 had the inlet and exhaust manifolds bolted together for anti pollution reasons ,that valve on the side is a egr valve
or exhaustgas recirculation valve ,the inlet manifold got its heat for fuel vapourization from the hot box between the two manifolds
so if you put this on your 186 it will be a bit grumpy untill the inlet manifold gets enough heat into it ,the actual butterfly size in that carby is lager than a 186 one ,the hq hj 202 carby and manifold is the same larger size but has water heating for vapourization

Hi Bob,

I reckon 6pac is absolutely right. If the carby you have works okay, a kit and a tune is probably the best option.
That 202 carb won't help fuel economy. If you have the original 4.6 diff., that's what you need to work on.
