Depends on the model of vehicle it is in. Wiring colour coding changes between models.

I have a workshop manual here for an HQ. If that's relevant I can look up the coding.

Oh hang on. Are you talking about the Aussie assembled six cylinder CF? In that case, DOH!

I have the bedford manual and about 3 looms (which are all different) but is driving me nuts.
In the manual it says purple/black for horn, only purples in front go to lights, and inside interior light is purple/white, only one i can find goes to the wiper switch. I don't really want to un tape the loom.

yeah am after the aussie 6 cly CF version

segidens had them and were the cheapest when I got mine. any place that sells steering wheels really should have or be able to get them. They might even have some up at the kumeu show, I'm hoping to take at least one of my vans up there, the VANZ usually has a group that goes up, contact gary for details.

I'll keep an eye out for you

Looking through my manual with regards to the interior light it appears that the color coding was fairly consistent with regards to the interior light circuit across all the 4 cyl models.

The interior light positive wire is purple (all models) and it is the earthing circuit that is purple/white (on the later models anyway). That would be pretty easy to confirm with a continuity tester or even a check light.

To be honest I wouldn't waste too much time on it. If it is becoming a pain in the butt just run a new wire. It's a pretty simple circuit and only needs a direct feed from the battery.

wiring can be the biggest nightmare of all ay!!! i had sparks coming out of my indicator stalk when i was going for roady worthy for black beddy!! driving along at night was fun!! i had fuses blowing all over the place..

i ended up ripping out the whole wiring on the entire van and replacing the lot with a good second hand loom.. worked almost without a hitch. but i could not use color codes.. that drove me insane! in fact i have never used my bedford haynes manual for anything!

i just found the multimeter much better! i used a long wire with aligator clips on each end to check stuff continuity a long way away...

cheers

Sorry Busy my manual must be down at work will look tomorrow as I can't find it anywhere here, time for a clean up I guess but it does cover the OZ 202, trimactic model but of course a new wire might be the best option, I rewired one of my vans and just tested as I went alone as Ben did with no problems, it might not be the same as factory but the good news is everything works fine.

im pretty sure mine is same as factory now..

..except the alternator thingy arrg forgotten what its called (anyone know?) i had an orig alternator on without a built in (insert forgotten name) and the wiring had been modifyed slightly to work with the built in (insert forgotten name).

soooooo alternator didnt do zip! and first trip to melb my battery went flat..

3 hrs from home
ended up borrowing a customers battery charger and charging my battery every hour on the way home. took me double the time to get home! far out!

30mins from home
until i completely forgot and turned the wipers on!!!!!! didnt twig until the wipers started to slow down oh ow!

20mins from home
pulled into a servo to get a bit of charge back in my battery to find the power was off cause of the storm. lucky i left the van running. never would have got it started again..

10 mins from home
check power at fuse box.. 7volts. far out!! lucky no electronic dizy lol

5 mins from home.
massive loose of power from low spark. down to 3rd gear (of 4) 45kms an hour..

home.
dribbled into driveway in 2nd gear.

another black beddy adventure to tell to the grand kids!
