Strange species of Bedford
« on: January 06, 2009, 09:25:16 PM »
While doing the search for CA/CF Beddys I found this on Flicker...Apparently its a Bedford from Malta...I zoomed right in on the grill area and it does indeed look like Bedford badging above the grill...Its so different and funky looking..I Want One,lol
It kinda looks like 'Christine' the killer Beddy..Hahaha ;D
(Note: this is NOT one of my photo-chop jobs!)

The CA was built in the 1950's so it must be older  ???

sorry guys don't reckon it ever was has been or could be a ca bedford!
To long, to round at the front around windscreen, windscreen is rounded, wrong body line, no pug nose between those 58 plymouth fury headlights etc etc
Looks more early european??
If you like it do it, If you like it a lot do it a lot!

Well I believe it is a Bedford of some sort...Check out the hubcaps on this CA for instance...

and the vertical grooves in the roof..Obviously its been heavily modified around the bodyline and the windscreen (not a CA unit) is further forward than the CA..But look at the Bedford logo under the windscreen

I cant prove it so if you think I am full of shit then thats fine but,
There were over 100 specially built vans in england that were sent out on the grand prix tour circuit in the mid to late 50s. I am sure this particular fronted type was in some shots I saw of the Brazillian Grand Prix and the Monaco Grand prix. They were built as support vehicles and delivered to teams who were "encouraged" to modify their vehicles to support the sport for the up and coming "tv" broadcasts of the time.
I remeber years ago, John Strachan? having some photos of them as well.
Like I said no proof for you to look at,but thats my 3c worth.
