silly question?

for the life of me, I cant seem to find a pic or anything of "whatever stops the front doors closing" a stay, door spring? did they have anything? I am trying to come up with something, but my brains shut down.......any one shed some light??

silly answer: a chicken

They have a tag in the top hinge, very common for them to break off with wear, and/or rust. Very hard to make a new one as it's sprung steel and machine rivited to the hinge. The passenger ones often survive time.

You can tell a Bedford owner ... just look for bruised shins from the bloody door closing on your legs when you have parked on an incline and you aren't concentrating.

Seriously though, you would think that one of us would have come up with a better plan than shoving a piece of wood in the lower hinge every time you want to work on the van and keep the door open.

You can just see the top edge peeking out behind the top of the hinge. They are pretty scarce.

Well my beddy must be a limited edition, it had skateboard wheels stored in the footwell pocket, didn't know what they were for until I was scrambling around one day....

I thought I'd invented something new but apparently not.
I carry two pieces of wood beside my seats for the doors. 
Learn something every day.
Must be a case of great minds eh?

Here's a thought; automatic closing doors !!

Take one bedford, park on slight angle, place ice block in hinge gap and watch as the door slowly closes ... a sunny day would be a bonus
