Help! 1975 Bedford Camper project

Hey guys!

We are a couple who own a 1975 CF Bedford camper, and are in the process of trying to fix it up, as a little "couples project".
First step is a general look to see if what we want to do to it is worthwhile, or if is just a complete dud and we are better off sending it to the farm to live...Pretty much everything on it is all original.

Any suggestions on where to go, who to see, where to get parts, who to talk to, whatever, we are ALL EARS!

We're also newbies at this, so speak slowly and take baby steps! 

First step is the overall look, then to a front disk brake conversion. Any suggestions?

You've come to the right place for advice etc

for power steering, disk brakes and diff conversions go see Murray at McQuoid Engineering Ltd, 765 Rosebank Rd, Avondale, Ph 8285302
but he is away until Wednesday the 18th Sept.

If it's original it'll have the slant 4cly, 2.3 engine, the engine is under powered but still can get to 100 kph (downhill tail wind helps haha). You could repower it with a holden 6 cly (202) or a nissan 2.8 diesel, or a VN commodore V6 which are the most common conversions or you could go any number of engines. But, if you change the engine you'll also have to change the gearbox and diff and of course get it certified.

You could go and buy an already done late model camper but building or rebuilding one yourself puts your heart and soul into it and it becomes a second (or first) home

Best advice I can give is talk to a few of your fellow kiwi's, maybe even get them to check out your new ride. They have all been down the "first Bedford" road and know the pitfalls & where to look for "problems"- read rust...
Some details of what you have as well is good. 4 cylinder.. or a 6... auto?
And remember photo's... If there are none, it never happened........
