Hi All,
I'm Marty, 35, just this year I'm back in Aus (for good) and currently work for an environmental lab in Brissy.
My brother is Bullstik and has seemingly infected me with the Bedford bug. I'm on the hunt for my first Bedford purchase.
I wanna get something fairly rust free, SWB, 6 cyl and auto. Let me know if you see any around!
Nice to meet you all!

Marty :D

Welcome aboard Martin,

For my 2 cents worth - i transplanted a V6 into my beddie along with the trans etc and dropping an 8 in would not be so different - but...i took a 186 out to put this in and having my time over again (which i now do having just bought another one) i would have left the 186 and had it worked a touch, this, in the end would have given me ample power without all the hassles that go along with the heart transplant!

My new beddie has a 173 and its staying, 3 speed manual - staying - Drum Brakes all round......staying! the only change will be the diff to give me lower top end revs. When you look at a beddie your looking at a big box of air, you dont need an 8 to pull it around and in this day and age of speed camera's - its not like you can stretch its legs whenever you feel the urge.

So there you have it - mezzmo's Sunday sermon.

Take CFJeff's van on here, Christchurch NZ, full custom, running Holden 6, for may years though the rebuilds, he seems to be happy with it. But then I guess if you are young and are able to do this yourself it's great, but for us older guys who have been there done that the 202 etc sounds good, and with the right gear they go well, the only thing I see people do wrong all the time is the grind on the cam, this can be done in such a way  that you will get as much low down power has a v6 and the diff change will take care of the top end.

i  like a small 8 under me, sounds  8)  bit more grunt "IF"u need it to get outta a tight spot, good towin power, an the speed camera thing is simple as, dont go over the limit, as far as fuel economy goes, the 253 again pee pees over a 202 6!!  to throw a six  :'( back into "ol futile"  would be, i feel, akin to cutting one of my  :o knackers off  :o ;D  ;D  ;D  different strokes for different folks but reckon its like jumpin on a yammy 125, after being used to an 80 cube...  ???  ???  ;)
I,d rather sell my...mum,....than my bedford!!

I already saw that one. Contacted the seller, asked for more pics (wanted to see the other side) and if there was video of it running / driving. And asked about the diff. Only reply I got was "original diff". No extra pics. I would have put a deposit on it already and booked a ticket to Sydney in plans of driving it up to Brisbane if the seller had offered more pics and a video.
