AIR CON
« on: June 08, 2013, 08:56:23 PM »
I am going to put air con in my truck but there doesn't seem to be much room for the condenser in front of radiator'
I have fitted a 202 injected and it has 3 row pullies on water pump and crank
has any one pics or description of air fitted?

Are you using all 3 rows on the pulley? I'm guessing one is for alternator and waterpump as standard, and another for aircon.
Swapping back to a double row pulley may well give you more room to move the radiator back toward the motor and put a condenser infront.
Are you running mechanical or electrical fans? Electrical fans are generally thinner than mechanical fans, there are a variety of options available..

yes I was thinking this was best option
will be using all the pulleys, water pump, air con, alternator, power steer, hydraulic pump
I was think of using ford au electric fans but maybe tight so may mount them off to each side and fit ducting
just another thing to look forward to, lots of other bits to work on

Ahh, I wasn't taking into account the power steering.

Just be aware, the AU fans are GREAT fans, much better than the VX fans I am using now which are also great. The only downside to the AU fans is that they draw alot of current. The EF/EL falcon fans are similarly good to the AU/BA fans, but draw less current. If you're using these fans on a remote condenser they will be on alot of the time, so you may need a larger alternator.
Just a thought

Hey ethyl, can you post pics of your truck and it's air-con system. Over the years, there has been a lot of questions and debate about the best type and design of system to install in a beddy.

just a heads up, starting the air cond journey....picked up today 3 vintage air "trial' kits (basically empty evaporators). I'll post some pic's and info over the next cople of days......
the units are the "super", the "mini" and the "magnum" from vintage air.
