Radiator advice

Hello everyone =)

A quick question please, what options do i have if I would like a new radiator for my van? I know I have the option of re coring the existing one, but is are there any other alternatives? my one is fine for the time being but clearly it has been left unused and hence rusted away from the inside. A mechanic told me that once he cracked an egg into his leaking radiator and it went for a year! i believe now days we have the products that stick on... might carry an extra egg in the van!

I'm not entirely sure how easy it is to fit, but a vk cross flow radiator is what we put in the hq race cars, they work great for a hot 202.
I've got a VX gen 3 cross flow in my van, but it took substantial modification and fabrication to make it fit, the vk would be much easier

I got my standard radiator on the slant 4 rebuilt by Trevor French Radiators here in Auckland in February 2011. Cost me $245 and took about 3 days. Best thing that I ever did. Can idle all day and the temp needle barely moves.

I Had my original radiator recored to a triple core and it works very well, i also fitted a shroud over the rad to increase effeciency.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Gordon I called them up and they quoted me $290 or $390 depending on the radiator cores (I think that's what it's called?)

I think that's the best option before taking the van down south. I thought it would take longer to get the radiator done but that's good it won't take long.

And don't forget to change your radiator hoses as well. Yes, it's an extra cost, but what price piece of mind on a long trip?
