MR Whippy Beddies?
« on: June 05, 2013, 04:15:48 PM »
Hi guys,
I'm on the hunt for a Bedford to use as a work van.  Not going to be carting much weight around (a few pieces of furniture at a time).  Haven't found any solid standard vans around in my price range but I have seen one or 2 Mr Whippy vans.

These have got the high roof, giant glass panels in the side which appear to cut through the gutter (not ideal for me but may suit doing markets) and therefore I assume a fair bit of the vans structure.

I was wondering if anyone has owned one of these and can comment on how horrible they are driving in wind but mroe importantly if they need any engineering approval for the roof and windows? Were they factory built?

I am wondering whether to take a look at one and look to limo tint the big side windows, strip out the icecream parts, compressor etc and reinstate it as a van, but concerned about being able to easily register it.

Thanks Mike, I hadn't spotted that one.  I would prefer a van, but if that is as good as it looks perhaps I could build a camper looking body for the rear...
