Kiwi Help for fuel tank

hey guys am after a bit of urgent help, had a mate doing some work on my fuel tank, he was attempting to cut out a piece of the tank and weld in a new bit to take a VL commie fuel pump n sender - prior to doing any work he flushed the tank n then threw a piece of burning paper into it via the old fuel pump hole and it resulted in a large boom sending the tank flying and oval-led out the top of the old beddy tank rendering it now useless as a fuel tank, so im now on the scrounge to see if any NZ'er on here knows of a spare tank for preferably cheap that i can get my hands on,preferably in the south island

or am open to any suggestions on what would fit in its place fairly easily

lol, seen this before, sorry for laughing but he should of filled the tank full of water or had an exhurst of another car running into it via a pipe to eradicate the tank of combustable air.
throwing a fire into it was a bad idea,
lucky no one lost an eye or worse,

i just sold a tank for $40, to a mate of a mate, so im sure your nz brothers will help you out,

If you can arrange someone to pick it up I have one here you can have, doesn't have a sender though.

Failing that, a commodore tank with fit with bedford tank straps, just need to take out and block off the commodore filler pipe and add a filler in back corner (CF pipe wont fit - to short), you can buy the 45 degree pipe at pipe places, i got mine from a place called pipeline.

I assume you were fitting a pump for injected motor, so wouldn't it be easier to use an inline pump?
I will be doing the same soon as I am fitting a VK injected motor in my truck and was going to use inline pump then only need to drill and tap for return line in the tank
I haven't looked at this yet so may not be feasible.

i also have one you can have ... just removed from my spare lwb .. i have the sender ,, was going to use that tho ...

was planning to fit the complete pump and sender unit from the commodore as i am running the loom and gauges from the VL as to suit the rb30 in the van, the main pump is an inline pump its more the pick up and sender i was after to have fitted into the beddy tank

i cracked up laughing when he told me it took off on him across the workshop but stopped laughing when he told me the state of the tank.
