removing door handles on CF truck
« on: January 29, 2013, 02:45:46 PM »
I am going to bare metal my doors to repaint, actually doing whole truck body bare.
how are the door handles fitted and best way to remove?
I can sort of get my hand in there and feel a nut but is there a second on the outer edge or is there a clipping mechanism
or does the handle slot in and slide then lock in place with the nut?
thanks for any help

hi ethyl,   just had a look and there are 2 nuts holding the handle on.  front one is easy the second one need flat spanner. its on the  centre side of the button.  hope that helps.
Nothing is impossible it just takes a bit longer

you can get it with a 1/4 drive socket set or spanner
There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't. What you've got to do is turn around and say "watch me"

Gidday, if a cf1 door there are 2 holes in your door, usually with a rubber bung over it. You get a 7/16th (i think) and an extension and carefully insert it through the holes and undo the nuts, be careful not to drop the nuts when withdrawing the socket. You may also have to undo the track for the window and carefully manipulate the latch mechanism to get a clear shot at the back nut.

Cheers Jeff
Just customize it!

tie a sting to the spanner, its a bitch to get back when it's dropped inside the door.

And invest in a flexible magnet stick. They're magic when nuts and bolts do inadvertently drop into the dark bottom recesses of your doors.

you are all right
found the 2 holes, under tape that almost line up with nuts
used 1/4 drive long bar with 7/16 socket
took 3 screws out of latch and moved it slightly to get access to one of the nuts
my doors are off so had them laying down with access to nuts from top, easy
but I have a couple of magnetic pick ups
had to fight off the spiders though, not happy
will reassemble in same position before they go back on cab
