Hey Big M, man its hard in these moments, let me share my experience with you, I didn't get on with my old man at all and didn't spek to him for like over 10 years, I rather hesitantly returned to NZ when he was passing away and got to spend three days with him before he passed on, we didn't talk much just sat with him during his struggle. Those three days I will forever cherish. Being able to forgive someone when they are with us leaves absolutely no regrets ...... take care of yourself bro ...... regards Eddy MAC

thanx Bas NZ n Eddy,
your thoughts and wishes are really apreciated.
never was real close to dad either,
but this last year with loosing mum has healed all wounds.
and brought us close.
we only get 1 family and 1 real chance at life,
everyday makes us better beings.
i believe we never stop learning and can learn from young and old.
its great to be able to teach eachother things as well.

Thanks Marty - yes all good here. I lost my Mum a few years ago too and didn't really get on great with my Dad but we are very close now and strangly enough having my van has given us something to talk about and share in common father to daughter. Strange how a hump of metal can mean so much for so many reasons. Take care.

Yep getting to say goodbye and being there was the hardest thing I have ever done (when my mum died 3 years ago at 49)  A little bit different because it was cancer and there was many years leading up to it but my advice to any of my friends dealing with the same sort of situation is spend as much time as you can with them.

I did spend alot of time when my Mum was close but I never knew what to say and therefor alot of time was spent silent.  If I could turn back time now I wish I could just tell her more about what was going on in my life at the time.  Not that it was too exciting but because I could tell she was in pain I never really knew how to act around her and i'm sure if I was just talking crap about what I did on the weekend or whatever she could of got some laughs.

I feel for you bud
