Will it Fit? Toyota 1UZ-FE efi quad cam V8

Hey all..

Been throwing ideas around with the bride.  We have a lexus soarer with a toyota 1UZ-FE engine (quad cam efi V8) with only 160k on the clock.
The car is pretty rough due to being left out in the weather.

So...   will this engine and 4spd auto fit into a bedford?
Has anyone tried?

Here is a website that explains the size of the engine, saying it is 30% bigger than a 350 chev.  So starting to have my doubts

Can anyone tell me if a rear sump or a front sump is required in a bedford..  i am almost certain my toyota engine is rear.

I hadf a brief look at one when I was repowering mine and brief was all I needed. I think you'd be cutting far too much steel out of the front to ever get it certified. They are just too big.

I know a guy who tried to put one in, well he did get it in but so many problems.
He had to cut the floor out to the rails on both sides (so was a massive hole), both sides had no foot space and the steering and pedals had to be moved for the air intake box module. I think he had to move the seats back a bit as well.

If i remember correctly, the distance between the rails is 900mm (could be a bit more), so thats how big the top of your engine cover would be, plus the extra width on drivers side for intake pipes etc

Bit of a shame...   i have it available in my shed.

Oh well...  might have to sell it and get an efi ford or chev

Any serious options for efi conversions?
I am yet to see any efi engines in a van..  i assume if it was only pushrod engine, the height would not be an issue

What a beautiful sight that is Warren.... It looks like one of the earlier v8s maybe VN or VP? .Also that pic from the front...It looks las though a section of the bulkhead can be unbolted for better access..is that right?  cheers...Johnno

looks like a VN possibly VP which makes it a 304

In terms of midmounting the lexus motor, you can easily make the engine cover a bed that lifts to give easy access to the motor, just gives the ability to still have foot room when driving
