brilliant idea restoreid
that looks a better idea than lifting the body off the front chassis.
cool idea with the length of wood as a leverage assistant.

A bit of usless info for thoes still with the holden 6 in Check that someone hasent used the bottom of the sump to jack up the van If it's dinted its probably hard up against the oil pickup if it is there isnt much gap left for the oil to get through & you mite not be getting enough volume of oil through I think that's what was wrong with mine Cheers Reid

Well guys had a good day today got the big bit in the engine bay All went smoothly As you can see from the 1st photo my helper Vessa Block is down the 3x2 half way as the lift point is above No2 cylinder I get it in as far as I can then set it down on blocks of wood & move the lift point to above No1 cylinder & have to move my helper right out to the end fo the 3x2 & employ another helper Tiney Anville to counter balence It all went great & I didnt have to share my beer with the help

Well guys got a bit more done this week Got my brandnew gear reduction starter motor $150

Reid,

Where did you get the starter motor? Do you have a part number or something that I can use to track one down?
I know it gets HOT under the engine cover and I know the starter motors fatigue because they sit so close to the extractors. Once I get my gear reduction starter motor and install it I am going to make a heat shield to protect it from the heat coming off the extractors.

Cheers

Jock
