Now a tricky one for all beddiefiles out there I found this plate under the rear passenger wheel well pop riverted to the inside of the wheel tub The letters & numbers are welded with a stick welder ( thought it might have something to do with it being a camper but Im not sure Have a look under yours & see if there is one  Any Idears come on Ben youve pulled a few apart I bet I get a few weird surgestions HaHa

I have a similar plate on my 76 camper that has been welded over the original chassie number on the passenger side firewall, when I asked Qld Transport about it they advised that the stamped original number was difficult to read as the numbers were not stamped in very deep and there was some discussion if a digit was a C or O. So as a solution the Qld Transport issued a new number on a steel plate that they supplied and the owner had to weld on but my number is stamped into the plate not welded like yours.

Cheers

Joe

if the rego branch don't reconise the chassis number, they will allocate one to the van, car or bike. A lot were done with a stick, straight to the chassis. Then in their superior wisdome, thet would let you fix it by poprivets, self tappets etc. Or it could just be the number for the camper alone
make it reliable, or smash it with a big hammer

That's pretty tricky utilising the heat from the exhaust system like that. I'm just trying to keep as much heat in the pipes as possible and to stop it radiating out as due to the mid-mount location of the engine in mine I have a bit of a heat trap under the engine cover and the air intake is going to run just a bit too close to the exhaust for my liking. Going to heat wrap the pipes and I think I'll be implementing some kind of heatshielding for the intake as well.
