roof mounted air conditioner/heaters
« on: October 01, 2008, 10:35:42 PM »
Just looking at different alternatives to getting aircon set up in my beddy and was thinking has anyone ever set up a roof top air conditioner. They shouldnt take power away from the motor and you can get slim line models that dont stick out too high from the van. Any suggestions.  :-\

Someone must have done it before?
I was thinking about mounting a small unit somewhere in the van...

Hi Guys N Gals, I have just put a air command unit on my motorhome, they are easy to put in but you have to realise they only run on 240V!! The other thought i had was to extend the AC pump hoses and remount the condenser then duct the air to where it is needed.
Cheers,

It would have to be one hell of an inverter!! You would have to have the whole Beddy full of bateries! Maybe one of the electric beddies would run it!!!
 :o
Put it this way I use a 3 kw generator to run mine when not pluged into domestic 240v!
Cheers,

Now this is a Bedford after my own heart!

Vintage Air have some awesome units. They still run off the motor, but you can pretty much mount them where ever you want. Just need to run hoses. And you can run 2 units, one for the front and one for the back. If the aircon drains too much power just put in a bigger motor problem fixed! ;D
