Im new and am hoping for some help!!

Hey There  ,

I am new to this site so bear with me a bit  still cant work out how to post stuff fingers crossed this works..... i have just bought a CF bedford as a project and really dont know anything about cars (i know its stupid but got to start somewhere) we are going to re power it with a holden 202 Moter, as at the moment it has the standard 2.3 slant 4 and it has seized (before i bought it)....... i hopefully have found a engine but just need the engine mounts, cross member, drive shaft and anything else anyone can suggest i will need..... also am finding it really hard to find some wheel studs here in little NZ was wondering if anyone out there could help me with this?

this is my dream vehicle and i really want to do it right but girly (sorry to all the guys out there cringing at this comment)

Welcome to your new drug

If you are in Auckland I might know someone selling holden engine, box and might be able to get the cross members etc as well as he's putting a diesel in it. Other wise mounting the engine yourself isn't to hard (think it's 40mm box for holden).
If you put a holden engine in it, unless you can get the driveshaft to suit the front cross member you'll have to get one made. You'll also need another diff, either cresta (gears) or a holden or ford diff centre welded in. You'll also need a speedo cable made up ... You'll also have to get it cert'd ($300-600)

If you don't know anything about cars it would be cheaper and easier to buy a rusted out CF that has the holden engine in it then swap it all over

Wheel studs from repco or super cheap etc unless it's the steel wheel jumbo then a truck parts place

 as on here the club is full of knowledge and locals that are always to keen to help another beddy fan out with their project to get it on the
road, had a few members round helpin me with my engine transplant and complete rewire of my cf.
 otherwise pm cfjeff as he mite know who to go see about wheel studs, also possibly Bob or Rick at Stanmore Auto Spares mite be able to help out

Welcome aboard, I was a newbie way back when and joining buga is one of to the best things I've done. welcome aboard Benita, as scott said yes another from down here in chch. Look us up at vanz unlimited either on our club website or our facebook page. Always ready and willing to help, and advice is always free. As busy said you will need a 6 cylinder diff or a beddy diff with the crester crown wheel and pinion modification, theres one on trade me at the mo or so I'm told. To get a six cylinder cross member will ask around for you and will ask at our next club meeting in a couple of weeks to see if any members have one lying about they dont want. As for drive shafts there are 2 places in christchurch you can get them made when the time comes. Good luck and welcome to building a beddy.

Jeff i was just wondering is the 6 cylider diff like a holden one? to match the engine? this might be a really stupid question sorry but im just learning,
also i spoke to you a whilte ago on the phone when i forst bought my bedford and you were hoping to get kits made up have you been able to do this or not yet i remember you saying it would take a few months,

any idea where i can get the pop top from my roof has the allowance but no fabric?

gidday, holden diff would be too narrow and you would need to run rather large spacers on it. 6 cylinder bedford diff is a bedford 4 cylinder one with a crown wheel and pinion gear set out of a vhauxal crester car, as these cars were 6 cylinder. However these diffs are getting hard to find now, but not impossible. As to body kits yes we are still developing them, hold up is the fibreglasser that has been mucking us about for the last year or so has finally admitted he dosent have the time to help us. So on advice we are doing the mould our selves, a bit of a learning curve but we hope to have a mould soon and then finished airdam and flares shortly after. Am spending most of my limited free time on this at the mo, still have many questions about making a mould and working with gel coat, a product I have never worked with. Anyhow I'm sure we'll get there in the end.
