Ben

I currently have 173 and 253 Beddy's in my drive so I took these photos to show the floor fitting on the V8
and also compare the 6 vs 8 engine mounts

Hope it is useful
Regards

can you use the 202 engine mounts for a 350 ??

i ask this as i have a 202 in my 79 van and a 350 in my 73 parts van
i was planing to just roll one out and the other in but if its mounts up should i use the newer cross member ?

i saw a add on trade me that made me think ...

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/holden/cf/auction-557905617.htm

""the front end has the hq disc brakes and is set up for a 350 chev but has a 202 holden in it at the moment have drive shafts for her the rear diff is an old bedford diff just so it can be moved "" ???

202 to 253 or 308 yes but 350 Chev I would have to say no, but I may be wrong.

You may have to do a measure then, I would roll the whole cross member under.

engine mounts look to be in similar positions on 202 and 350 blocks.. however the reason he could put a 202 in a van that HAD a 350 in it, is that the hole has been cut to suit a 350, then just put a 202 back in.
To put a 350 in a van that has never had a 350 requires more effort

but is it an easy fit as far as the mounts go
i am going to fit the 350 and 400 trans anyway
cutting the hole isnt a worry
i know just taking the cross member out the lwb with chev and trans and rolling it under the swb
is the any difference in the cross members ? apart from two towing eyes ?

Everything is interchangeable, as I have done this from a SWB parts too a LWB Duel front end. still have my doubts on the mounts, even from a 202 to a 308 can be problems depending on how the mounts fit on the cross member, eg. to far back or forward etc.

aside from cutting the bigger hole, the only problem i can see if you swap complete chassis, is that the tailshaft will be the wrong length, tho this is easily fixed.
