steering uni

noticed a  vibe comin n going last few weeks  and finally picked the uni joint  which couples the  s/wheel shaft with the steering box is well an truly "shagged"!           is this a bedford part, or can other uni,s be used. yot thoughts would be appreciated .... cheers skippy

Yep Skip....Search steering uni and scoll down for details. One of the first things that i replaced on my truck and man..what a difference

   I paid $ 77 not sure if thats trade price or retail , as my mechanic and the guy who fixed the Uni joint use to know each other
   from working togethor at Repco in the 60s

   The middle cross part of the uni joint , l remember being told is that out of a Torana . I think it was  LX or LH cant really remember.

   Anyway hope this is of help. They did a good job with warranty...........CHeers   Frank

The lucky thing with steering joints is that they usually fail at low speed, because that is when they are most loaded.

thanks groovers i seem to recall something about torana,s being mentioned too , now you mention it fever....  warren!!... where,s "skippy island"       never heard of it....

i unbolt the botttom of the uni shaft off its nolethene pad , an loosen the spline bolt an slide the whole uni assembly off the s/wheel shaft. ja?  is the whole assembly off a torana,? or just the uni joint itself?...

think its just the uni Skip..

Think John Abbot version..he had the uni shaved to fit the bedford....

If the torana one fits...will have no need to machine it...
