Fixing an ELECTRIC BLANKET while still turned on. I was a kid at the time and I still will not play with power, no matter what......
make it reliable, or smash it with a big hammer

We had a van work shop day at my place once, the task was to fit bonnet scoops to 4 HK-HG Holdens, we all had very little experiance, in fact we had no idea, any way after attacking the bonnets with angle grinders we laid the fiberglass scoops in position and started laying up the glass matt, things were going well, and all 4 bonnets were sitting in the driveway in the sun drying, 4 hours later still not gone off, in fact they were still the same as when we had started, so we waited another 2 hours and still no change, so I made a call to another vanner in the club and he asked what ratio of catalyst were we using, to which I answered what catalyst ???  so its stupid x 4  :D
Any fool can know, the point is to understand

Last week I was welding some thing on my work bench. A bastard spark landed on a spray bottle which promptly caught fire. I saw the bright light from my perifial vision inside my helmet. Quickly without any thought I scooped the bottle onto the garage floor where the plastic started to melt and fuel leaked out, spreading towards the CF! SHIT! I kicked the bottle outside down the drive and wouldn't you believe it the bottle rolled under my 28 Chev hot rod. SHIT SHIT SHIT!  Running out of the shed screaming out for assistance from my handbrake I turned on the tap outside my shed only to find my jeans on fire and the hose running into the back yard and not where I needed it! SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT! By this time the rod had flames comming through the engine bay and getting higher. I disconected the hose and put myself out then used my cupped hands to flick water onto the rod, meanwhile the flames inside the shed were starting to go out and Sandy had arrived pulling madly at the hose. Finally after what seemed minutes we had the fires out! PHEW!

Damage Report: One totally melted spray bottle, One blackened, mainly soot thankfully 28 Chev, one very shakey gentleman (me) whith singed leg and one equally shakey wife. I might add this is not the first time Iv'e set myself on fire welding, think I'd learn hey!

Lesson learnt: Always have the hose handy when welding, always check the area where you weld, DONT PANIC MR MANNERING!!!!
Russ,  Keep on Van'in
