Paint question
« on: May 25, 2012, 02:10:35 PM »
Hello you crazy mob.. ;D ;D i have a paint question....Alot of the new cars come out of the factory with some very smiko colours. Am i right to assume that the paint on these new cars are 2 pac paints ? and if that is the case would it be possible to get the same colour made up in acrylic form? cheers,,,Johnno :D :D

yes and yes but the new cars the paint is dull and clear is the shine/depth. look at a new car and look under the bonnet and often in the door jabs, the colour will be flat - no clear.

2 pac is easy enough to paint, same as any others, just mixing ratio needs to be a bit on the dot rather than "yep thats about right" as you do with laquers. oh and 2 pac can't sit in your gun like other paints, as it goes rock hard.
There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can't. What you've got to do is turn around and say "watch me"

yeh paint it in 2 pac johno it will give a lot harder more scratch resistant finish. acrylic never goes terribly hard.

The reason i ask is that i am going to paint my daughters hyundai excel for her and i will be doing it in my shed at home .As i am in suburbia i dont want to have all the nastys that are in 2 pac floating around. I have used acrylic before and found it great so no probs there. I also want to spray the centres of a set of mags i got for it a metalic red to complement the base maroon colour that the car is. I will put up a pic so you can see. So its only the mags that i want the metalic for. ;D ;D

hichem sells no iso 2pac paint that is as good as the iso paint and the price is the same, only difference in painting 2pac is it takes a long time to dry so crap usually sticks to it.but it can then be cut and polished
