Stangas from WA
« on: May 15, 2012, 10:30:22 AM »
Hiya all..

We are Jason, Sarah and young Toby (8 yrs old).  We live in Collie WA..  in the south west

I have just purchased a 75 CF Bedford..  barn doors at back, hinged side door.

Looking to hot her up a lot...  mainly cosmetic and set up for roughing it out the bush

She is as rough as gutts atm, but the missus is stoked as she wants to use it as a base for her airbrush.
So for body work...
I need to start looking out for a fibreglass provider, which i have noticed in the for sale section.. some adcice on the side windows as we want them blanked and they are currently dodgy caravan windows pop rivited in...  Tail lights are trailer lighjts, surely there is something a bit better than that... i have seen a few different ideas.

The bog work is pretty straight and staying there...  just a tidy up and then paint a base colour out in a paddock one nice sunny day

Inside:
Need column shift auto and will do what ever to get it because we have 3 of us and i dont want to go with a seat in the back..  I have got new land cruiser seats from a ute off my dad, and there seems to be ample room for the engive cover.

The camper will be a double bed with storage underneath..  then at the rear barn doors will be a sink, fridge/esky and cooker with storage floor to ceiling.

cont....

The engine is a 253 holden v8 that is running like an absolute dog.
gonna replace the 350 holley without a choke to a 465 holley brand new with elect choke and vac sec (bring back some memories) as it will bolt straight onto the 4bbl manifold that is brand new..   electronic ignition and tune it..  all looks good otherwise

the box...  TH400 i think..  needs some attention, but after a service i will really know what condition it is...  300 bucks for a full clutch and band rebuild kit + bearings as needed.

Door seals....  every door is absolutely stuffed...  it looks like they are fairly straight and generic stuff would be fine
Any advice on window seals and felts for the winder windows?

Has discs all round and work quite well but the rims are terrible so some old skool alloy rims need to be sought.
The dash is a complete rework, so any good condition ones out there? prolly fibreglass replacement and find a good cond instrument cluster

So thats my 5mins on a soapbox...  any help or advice welcome

sounds hot as with the twin system....
just some old school tuning to do once this new carby rocks up.
i reckon that will fix the gearbox up too, some smooth power to try and deal with

WOOOHOOOO!!

These things are awesome..  even in its ruff as guts condition, it is great fun to drive

googling right now the recommended jet and power valve size for a 350 holley on a 253.

i reckon that is all that is wrong with it...  and that takes 15mins to change..  the fuel bowl is facing the front.
scored 2 sailsbury diffs...  3.08:1..   gonna get rid of the bedford diff so i can put a straight set of holden rims on it

Still searching for door felts for the winding window...  if anyone knows where i can find some
