Does anyone know how to get the shifter knob of on the VN as per photo, as a lot of guys run one in there van on here, someone might know. Note it has the lift up lever at the back aswell. Bas

Here it is straight from the Haynes manual. It's a bit of pissing around.

1.) Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Disable the air bag system (if it exists).
2.) Remove the centre console.
3.) Raise The vehicle and support it securely on jackstands.
4.) Disconnect the shifter rod from the lever.
5.) Remove the Park/Neutral position switch from the shift lever base.
6.) Drill the rivets that secure the lever assembly to the body.
7.) Remove the shift lever assembly.
8.) Refitting is the reverse of removal. Use 8 new pop rivets to refit the assembly.
9.) Ask the wife's opinion, whoops. I mean "Enable the airbag system".

Ok Thanks, don't need to do most of those things, don't have them....... just want to replace my sifter panel, the thing with the 1 - 2 - D(white) D (Blue) N - R - P on it.

Apparently you put it in park and yank the crap out of it.

Yep did the same search myself, seen that but mine has that second level, and it runs in a slot in the main shaft, so don't think I can do it that way, that level is connected to something.......

Not sure, as far as I know it's a standard VN shifter.............
