I dont mind us having no max image size, but a sticky in the forum rules / intro area asking people to only direct link up to 800 x 600, but for larger than that asking them to use thumbnails and some instructions and sample html.  Then a note for the less html savvy saying "if you are not sure on how to do this don't panic, a moderator will get around to editing oversize images for those of you unsure how to... ??

I don't mind setting the max image size, in fact I would prefer to have it. But I just need to figure what the max image size should be.

Cool, if we have a max then probably make it 800 x 600...

but if people use thumbnails will that let them have a thumbnail for a larger image - for example if someone wants a big pic posted for a screensaver or desktop image

The max image size only makes the images appear smaller. If you save the image and then open it in your fav image viewer it will still be large.

Oh yeah :-*

You can also attach any size image to yours posts and it will display a small thumbnail that you can click on for the full size image.
